Richardson Chamber Players Present: “Looking Forward, Looking Back”

RICHARDSON CHAMBER PLAYERS PRESENT: "LOOKING FORWARD, LOOKING BACK"

On Sunday, April 9, 2017at 3pm, the Richardson Chamber Players willpresent a program that juxtaposes rare gems of the Baroque period withcontemporary fare. Hosted by Princeton University Concerts fora series of three concerts every season at RichardsonAuditorium in Alexander Hall, the ensemble will appear for thelast time this 2016-17 season. The program, titled "LookingForward; Looking Back" will feature music by baroquecomposers Marco Uccellini and AntonioVivaldi, as well as modern composers AugustaRead Thomas, Arvo Pärt, and anew work by Princeton composer and faculty Juri Seo, writtenfor the rare instrumentation of violin, viola, cello, oboe, trombone, andpiano. The concert will feature Wendy Young,harpsichord; Mark Broschinsky, trombone; MatthewSullivan, oboe; Anna Lim, violin;Nancy Wilson, violin; JessicaThompson, viola; and Alistair MacRae,cello. In an age when temporal distinctions between musical genres are increasinglypronounced, this concert presents a rare opportunity to blur these oftensuperficial classifications and experience music atemporally. Formed in 1994-95, the Richardson ChamberPlayers are a mixed ensemble that comprises Princeton’s performance faculty,distinguished guest artists, and supremely talented Princeton students. Thisseason’s programs were conceived by a small committee consisting of cellistAlistair MacRae, mezzo-soprano Sarah Pelletier, and trombonist BenjaminHerrington. Michael Pratt is a Founding Director and Advisor.
