ABOUT THE EVENT:

There is something almost storybook in the tale of the Kanneh-Mason family: 21-year-old Sheku, winner of the 2016 BBC Young Musician of the Year, enchanted over 35 million people across the world playing at the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle; his older sister, Isata, soared to the top of the U.K. classical charts with her solo album debut last year. They are two of seven siblings, all of whom are highly-accomplished musicians. For their long-anticipated Princeton University Concerts debut, the brother-sister duo invite us into their magical family’s home in Nottingham, England for an intimate performance of two monumental sonatas for cello and piano by Ludwig van Beethoven and Sergei Rachmaninoff and Saint-Saëns' soaring "Swan" before inviting viewers to chat in a live Q&A.

This event will be the culmination of an almost month-long focus on the extraordinary Kanneh-Mason family. Over the coming weeks we will share curated playlists by several of the seven (!) musician siblings, and a conversation with parents Kadiatu and Stuart Kanneh-Mason about their musical family, the issue of race in classical music, and more, moderated by WNYC host Helga Davis.
