ANNOUNCING NEW CONVERSATION SERIES
We will take a moment to reflect on the hope and resiliency inherent within the performing arts and the pandemic’s impact on the role of the arts in our society in a new series of weekly conversations hosted by multidisciplinary artist and WNYC host Helga Davis.
Topics include examining how the music industry contributes to and can address issues of climate change; the role of the arts within the context of social justice; how politics play into evolving cultural values; shaping the future of the performing arts, and more. The series aims to harness the thoughtful intent that has arisen from this far-reaching moment in our history and ensure that we unmask the arts mindfully and beneficially as we transition into a post-pandemic world.
Participants include New York Philharmonic principal clarinetist Anthony McGill, pianist and co-director of The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center Wu Han, MacArthur Genius award winning opera and theater director Yuval Sharon, revolutionary violinist Patricia Kopatchinskaja, New York Times art critic Jason Farago with former Washington Post music critic Anne Midgette and New York Review of Books associate editor Maya Chung, Grammy and MacArthur Genius award winning musician Rhiannon Giddens and others.
